ABOUT ICCSET
Digital technologies are transforming society at every level, blurring the lines between physical and virtual life as people increasingly rely on digital platforms for relationships, learning, and leisure. Social media, AI, and online learning reshape communication and identity formation, influencing public perceptions of science, tourism, and education while challenging traditional norms and creating new opportunities and inequalities.
Developing digital skills for the future workforce is critical, as industries evolve and demand for data literacy and digital communication rises. Educational institutions adjust curricula to prepare students, while employers seek workers who navigate complex digital ecosystems. This highlights the need for lifelong learning and equitable access to digital education to address the digital divide and ensure social justice.
In tourism, smart destinations and digital ecosystems promote sustainable practices, allowing communities to market their assets and engage in transparent governance. Digital citizenship redefines civic engagement, emphasizing the rights and responsibilities of online participation and the importance of digital literacy.
Furthermore, the relationship between mental health and digital life is complex, as technologies offer both connection and challenges like cyberbullying and information overload.
Against this backdrop, the Sociology Department of Universitas Negeri Malang proudly opens the 2nd International Conference on Contemporary Sociology and Educational Transformation. We invite scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore the intersections of digital transformation, tourism, and education. The conference aims to foster dialogue on the societal impacts of digitalization and encourage collaborative solutions for inclusive and sustainable development. It seeks to illuminate how digital transformation reshapes social worlds by bringing diverse perspectives together for critical reflection and knowledge exchange.
